Here's how Team Rynkeby will finish the ride to Paris

It will be without the traditional parade through the streets of Paris when Team Rynkeby finishes its 16th trip to Paris on July 15, 2017.

When 1,700 yellow-clad cyclists from Team Rynkeby conclude seven to eight days spent on the roads of Europe to benefit children with critical illnesses on July 15, 2017, it will be without the traditional parade through the streets of Paris.

The security situation in Paris means that the French authorities have not authorised Team Rynkeby to hold the parade in the French capital, explains Carl Erik Dalbøge, Director of the Team Rynkeby Foundation.

"It is a fact that the world has changed – and that we at the Team Rynkeby Foundation must also become accustomed to a much greater focus on security when arriving in Paris. "It is therefore understandable that the Paris authorities are being cautious and not just permitting us to run the arrival as in previous years," says Carl Erik Dalbøge.

Same place as last year
Despite the cancelled parade, Team Rynkeby's Director is convinced that the end of Team Rynkeby's 16th bike ride to Paris will be festive and memorable for the participants and for the 5,000-6,000 friends and family members that the Team Rynkeby Foundation expects will welcome Team Rynkeby to Paris.

"We have secured the large, grassy 'Prairie du Cercle Sud' in the north-eastern corner of Paris – the same place where we finished the trip last year. "Here our 44 teams will arrive individually between 1:00 and 2:00 PM and ride in a brief parade across the square before they officially finish the trip and are reunited with their family and friends," says Carl Erik Dalbøge.

"We are currently working on the final details for the Tour de Paris finish so that it is as pleasant and memorable as always – in fact, I think that many teams will find that the finish will go more smoothly when we avoid cramming 1,700 cyclists into the same space at the same time," he continues.

'Prairie du Cercle Sud' opens for friends/family at 10:00 AM.

The 44 teams arrive individually at the square between 1:00 and 2:00 PM, and the event concludes at 3.00 PM. From here the teams will leave for their respective hotels.

Friends/family arriving at the square by Metro should get off at 'Métro Porte de Pantin' (Line 5).
