Team Rynkeby wishes you a very Merry Christmas
Team Rynkeby Foundation director Carl Erik Dalbøge will look back on 2016 with great satisfaction, as he explains in his Christmas greeting to the charity cycling team's participants and sponsors.
Dear participants and sponsors
Just three months ago, we completed Team Rynkeby's 15th season by donating €8.84 million to the battle against childhood cancer in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Faroe Islands – the biggest donation in the history of the project.
Around the same time, we started up six new teams – including a team in Iceland – so that in 2017 we will have approximately 1,750 riders and 450 helpers in 44 teams in six countries.
And things have begun to move quickly.
The participants have thrown themselves into the project eagerly, and the sponsors once again appear ready to help us well on our way. Without revealing too much, I can say that the amount of funds raised is looking very good, not least on our new online collection platform "MyCollection" where 1,100 participants have registered and collected more than €200,000 in the battle against childhood cancer. This is really quite impressive.
At the same time, in the first months of the season we have focused on expanding the Team Rynkeby School Run throughout Scandinavia. And this is also going very well. We've just rounded 200 registered schools, which is twice as many as had registered this time last year. With these numbers, the Team Rynkeby School Run promises to be exactly the large-scale Nordic exercise and charity event that we hoped for at the start of the season – and there are still two months until the registration deadline. The race itself will take place at all schools on April 7, 2017 – the day before the Easter holidays.
So we definitely have good reason to look back on 2016 with great satisfaction – and in every way, 2017 looks like it will be an exciting year for the project. We are incredibly grateful for your efforts and your support.
On behalf of the entire Team Rynkeby, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
