What it costs to participate on Team Rynkeby in 2018
Team Rynkeby Foundation has calculated the cost of participating as a cyclist or service person on Team Rynkeby in 2018. See the prices here.
Team Rynkeby Foundation has just finalised the last agreements concerning delivery of bicycles, cycling apparel and hotel stays for the upcoming season.
Now the charity cycling team can announce what it will cost to participate as a cyclist or service person on Team Rynkeby in for the upcoming season in 2018.
The payment for cyclists has increased approximately 1.5% from DKK 18,200 in 2017 to DKK 18,500 in 2018. This amount covers the carbon fibre bicycle, cycling apparel, helmet and seven overnight hotel stays on the journey to Paris. In addition, cyclists should expect extra costs ranging between DKK 3,000-5,000, explains Carl Erik Dalbøge.
"Most teams will need an additional hotel stay and ferry transport on the way to Paris. If it's not possible to find a sponsor, the cost will be added to the participant payment. Moreover, costs associated with transport home from Paris are not included in the price. And when you count the purchase of cycling shoes, cycling glasses and some cycling socks, most people will pay an additional DKK 3,000-5,000. I think that it's important to give the participants a realistic picture of what it costs to participate in total," says Carl Erik Dalbøge.
An experience for life
On the other hand, according to the Team Rynkeby Director, participants can expect the experience of a lifetime.
"9 out of 10 cyclists on Team Rynkeby replied to our recent survey that their participation on Team Rynkeby had been the greatest exercise experience of their life. And when you put that in terms of price, it's not expensive – the cycle alone, which the participants are of course allowed to keep, has a list price of around DKK 15,000," says Carl Erik Dalbøge.
Payment in three instalments
While the participant payment for the cyclists has increased a bit for the upcoming year, the cost for service people is identical with that of 2017 – just DKK 3,600.
"Team Rynkeby Foundation does not make a profit on the participant payment. The cyclists pay a small additional cost that means that the service people can pay a little less. But in the end the participant payment evens out," says Carl Erik Dalbøge.
The participant payment is made in three instalments. The first instalment for the bicycle, must be paid as of 1 October 2017, while the clothing package must be paid by 1 December 2017. The third and last instalment, which covers the hotel package, is to be paid by 1 May 2018 at the latest. This date is also when service persons must pay their participation costs.
All participants in all countries are asked to calculate participant costs in Danish crowns – the only exception is the Finnish participants, who calculate costs in Euro.
