This result was made possible by more than 2,800 volunteer riders and service crew across eight European countries and one international team, supported by sponsors, private donors and local communities.
Almost 100,000 schoolchildren also took part in the Team Rynkeby School Run, raising nearly one fifth of the total through their runs in support of children with critical illnesses.
Team Rynkeby began with one cycling team in Denmark in 2002. Over the past 25 years, it has developed into an international movement with more than 70 teams across Europe.
“Our participants volunteer for an entire season. Alongside their training, they organize events, work with sponsors and raise awareness and funds in their local communities. This result shows what that shared effort can achieve,” says Solvejg Lauridsen, General Manager of Team Rynkeby.
Raised locally, connected internationally
Team Rynkeby’s donations go to national beneficiary organizations that support children and families and fund research into childhood cancer and other critical childhood illnesses.
That research increasingly crosses borders. When researchers share patient data and expertise across countries, they can improve diagnosis and treatment.
A donation raised by a team in Skaraborg, Sweden, may fund research in Sweden that contributes to an international effort. Its impact can reach far beyond the community where it began.
A growing movement
The new result follows a record-breaking season with the highest participation in Team Rynkeby history, and again this year, more than 3,000 people applied to join the 2026/27 season.
Team Rynkeby is also continuing to develop its team formats and geographical reach. The coming season will include national gravel teams in Denmark, Sweden and Finland, as well as new teams in Finland, Germany and Switzerland.
As the 2025/26 funds are handed over, the next Team Rynkeby season is already under way. Across Europe, the newly formed teams have begun training, fundraising and building support ahead of Paris in July 2027.
